  1. To scan a new photo in:
GET > SCANNER. Click drop-down arrow to choose name of scanner (i.e., UMax, HP,Epson, Canon, etc.). Click SCAN.
  2. Crop (and straighten) the photo:
PREPARE > ROTATE & CROP > STRAIGHTEN (follow directions to straighten). PREPARE > ROTATE & CROP > CROP (follow directions to crop).
  3. Make color and contrast adjustments:
PREPARE > TOUCHUP > ENHANCE. PREPARE > TOUCHUP > TOUCHUP FILTERS. PREPARE > TOUCHUP > TOUCHUP BRUSHES.
  4. Resize the photo:
    ADJUST > RESIZE.
    1. From the Menu Bar, ADJUST > RESIZE, and change either the width or the height. As a general rule, for Web viewing, try to keep the width no more than 580 pixels, and the height no more than 420 pixels.
    2. As long as the box in front of KEEP PROPORTIONS is checked, the size of your photo will change proportionately.
  5. Sharpen the resized photo:
PREPARE > TOUCHUP > TOUCHUP FILTERS. Choose SHARPEN from the drop-down window. This is a strong filter; start off by setting the INTENSITY slider to 1.
  6. Save the photo in .jpg format:
SHARE > SEND EMAIL. Choose SEND AS JPEG and set the quality to 5. (A lower number means a lower image quality and lower file size; a higher number means better image quality and higher file size.) Click SAVE FOR EMAILING LATER. PhotoSuite gives you a pop-up window which tells you where your photo has been saved.
