Organize Your Digital Photos
Digital photography's greatest strength is also its weakness: you can take all the photos you want, but finding them months or years later can be a daunting task.
CompuGoddess finds that the single largest problem digital photographers have with their photos is simply finding them. That doesn't have to be the case; just learning how to use your computer's file system can go a long way towards helping you get things organized.
Once you feel comfortable with making folders and putting (and finding) your photos in them, you can start to use any of a number of programs that have sprung up to help you further categorize your photos. They allow you to cross-index your photos (for example, that shot of the cathedral in Paris can be indexed as Europe, Paris, Architecture, and Churches), and many also let you rate your photos -- so you can see all your best Architecture photos immediately, without searching through thousands of them.
CompuGoddess can help you learn to use your computer's file system for photo organization, as well as teach you how to use photo-organizing programs, including (but not limited to) Corel Photo Album, Picasa, ACDSee, Photoshop Elements/Album, and Bridge.
