Make Your Own Web Page Using Netscape Composer 7.x

Add Graphics and Pictures to Your Web Page

Add a Horizontal Line to Your Web Page.
A horizontal line can help divide your page up into sections. Put your cursor where you'd like the horizontal line to be, and go to INSERT > HORIZONTAL LINE. A line will be added to your page, separating one section from another. When you've added the line, click on it to select it. You'll know it's selected when you no longer see a cursor flashing anywhere.

Once the line is selected, you can go to FORMAT > HORIZONTAL LINE PROPERTIES where you can change the height of the line, or its width. You can also change its alignment in that dialog window.

This is the icon you can click on to insert an image into your pageAdd a Picture to Your Web Page.
Before you a picture to your Web page, copy it to your Web page folder. Now click the INSERT IMAGE icon.

You'll get a dialog window that looks something like the one below:

this shows the first tab on the Image Properties window, Location

Click the CHOOSE FILE button to navigate to the picture you want to insert. In the field immediately below the image location, make sure the button that says Alternate Text is checked, and write a brief description of your picture in there (i.e., a vase of red roses). Alternate text is for the benefit of people who can't see the picture on your page for one reason or another.

Below are several layout options for your picture.

To center the picture:
If you want to center the picture between two separate paragraphs, just click OK after navigating to the picture you want to put in. Click on the picture so it's highlighted--that means it's selected. Now you can set the alignment to center (use either the alignment icon or go to FORMAT > ALIGN > CENTER).

Picture on the left side of the page:
If you want your picture to the left of the text, with the text wrapping around it, click on the picture to select it (you'll know it's selected if it's highlighted). Go to FORMAT > IMAGE PROPERTIES to bring up the Image Properties window again. This time you'll want to go to the third tab, APPEARANCE (shown below). Now click the drop-down arrow to the right of the circled area that says AT THE BOTTOM and choose WRAP TO THE RIGHT. Click OK.

Go to FORMAT > IMAGE PROPERTIES to bring up the Image Properties window again. This time you'll want to go to the third tab, APPEARANCE (shown above). Now click the drop-down arrow to the right of the circled area that says AT THE BOTTOM and choose WRAP TO THE LEFT. Click OK.

Extra space around the picture:
If you want to add a little space to the left and right of your picture, put a number in the SPACING > LEFT AND RIGHT box, also on the APPEARANCE tab shown below (usually you will use something in the range of 6-24 pixels). Click OK.

Add some padding around your image with the Appearance tab

If you want to add a little space to the top and bottom of your picture, put a number in the SPACING > TOP AND BOTTOM box, also on the APPEARANCE tab shown above (usually you will use something in the range of 6-24 pixels). Click OK.

To ensure that everyone who visits your website can see the pictures, make certain they're in either a .jpg or .gif format.
