Make Your Own Web Page Using Netscape Composer 7.x

Enter and Format Text

Open Netscape Composer by opening the Netscape browser and clicking WINDOW > COMPOSER on the menu bar.

Type a heading for your web page in the main part of the window; for example, you could type My Special Web Page.

Center the words by clicking the CENTER ALIGNMENT icon (Fig. 1), or go to the FORMAT menu and choose the ALIGN > CENTER option.

Go to FILE > SAVE AS and you'll get a little dialog window asking what you want your Page Title to be (Fig. 2). This is what will appear in the title bar of the real web page, so you should use real English, not Computerese -- for example, you could simply retype the heading you put in your page a moment ago. Click OK when you're done.

Now save your page in a folder you've made specially for your website. Make the file name index (all lower case, no spaces); index is usually the name of the home page. You can call subsequent pages anything you want, but it's a good idea to: a) not put any spaces in their names, although you can use hyphens or underscores instead; and b) keep their names all lower-case.

Click and drag to highlight the heading on your page. Next, click the drop-down arrow next to the words BODY TEXT and choose HEADING 1 (Fig. 3). This will make your words much bigger, and bold also. There are actually six heading levels for web pages. HEADING 1 is the biggest and HEADING 6 is the smallest. You can play with these to see which size is right for your page.
