Prepare Photos for Display on the Web

Quick 'n' Dirty Image Editing Tips

scannerIMAGE EDITING is the techno-term for all the things photographers used to do in the darkroom to touch up and otherwise prepare their photos for viewing. The huge variety of image editing software currently on the market means that almost anyone can now improve his/her photos without a darkroom--or even expensive software.

The following tutorials take you through the step-by-step process of preparing your photographs for electronic viewing--i.e., on the Web, in e-mail, or in an auction listing--using several different pieces of software (many of which commonly ship with new scanners, digital cameras, etc.). We hope they help--and even more, lead you further into the fantastically fun world of image editing!

If you don't have any of the software listed above, take a look at our generic guidelines for image editing.
