Making websites pushed me into several directions that I hadn't anticipated. While at the rock shop, I started using a digital camera to shoot photos of the products we were putting on the Web. I also learned to use Photoshop, both to create Web graphics and to enhance my photos (and they definitely needed a lot of enhancing!).

In 2000, I left the rock shop and began teaching web-related classes at UNM's Division of Continuing Education. As my interests and abilities with digital photography and image-editing grew, so did others' interest in the topics. In 2002, I began teaching both digital photography and Photoshop Elements classes at Continuing Ed.

Teaching has been an incredibly enriching experience. I often think teaching is what I was born to do, and I continue to be amazed at how much I learn when I teach someone else something they want to learn. In addition to teaching, I've supported myself by making websites for others, and little by little, I've made a bit of money through photography as well.

It truly is a privilege to be able to spend many of my waking hours doing what I enjoy so much, and I remain rather stunned that I'm able to do so.
