Who is CompuGoddess?

The Details

compugoddess waves from behind a huge pair of eye glasses in northern New MexicoI grew up within commuting distance of New York City (born in Brooklyn, then lived in New Jersey, and later, Connecticut). As a teenager, I wanted to be a musician and went to New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, eventually graduating in 1982 with a Bachelor of Music degree (otherwise known as a BM).

By that time, I was figuring out that the life of a classical guitarist wasn't for me. I came out to New Mexico to visit another guitarist friend, and truly was enchanted by the state. I moved here in 1985.

I worked as a mail carrier from 1986 to 1995. I loved carrying mail and hated the Postal Service. I was given a diagnosis of arthritis in 1993 (in my feet, of course!), and successfully ignored that for a while. I ran a barcode sorter from 1995 to 1997, and then left the Post Office (one of the happiest moments of my life).

In the meantime, I'd gotten interested in both beads and computers. I started taking every computer class I could find, and began a job working at a rock shop (Mama's Minerals) that sold beads as well. In the spring of 1998, I took an HTML class (HTML is the language that holds web pages together) and was off and running. I convinced the owner of the rock shop that a web site would be less expensive than a full-color catalog, and all of a sudden I was a webmaster.
